Gymnastics Program Coordinator

Permanent, Part-Time (25 hours per week)

Hourly Rate: Based on the Clerical Private Sector Award MA000002

Henley & Grange Youth Club Inc (better known as Gym West Gymnastics Club) is home to one of South Australia’s largest Gymnastics programs, catering for gymnasts from the age of 0-18+ years. The Club has a large recreational gymnastics & KinderGym program and runs both Women’s and Men’s competitive artistic gymnastics.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in the effective management of gymnastics sporting programs or experience in a similar sports program management role
  • Working understanding of human resource management practices including occupational health & safety, anti-discrimination and Equal employment opportunities
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage and motivate a diverse team of staff
  • Working knowledge of the internet and Microsoft based software
  • Knowledge of budgets and financial planning
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or 2 years’ experience in sports management or gymnastics
  • Knowledge of recreational and competitive gymnastics preferable
  • Current Working With Children Check/DCSI Clearance (or able to obtain)

Role and ideal applicant
You will ensure financial viability and identify innovative and creative opportunities for new business initiatives at the Club. You will act as the face of the Gymnastics Programs providing proactive and consistent communications to parents, staff and management. You will provide leadership and professionalism to all staff within the Gymnastics program along with building key development and mentoring opportunities for the staff.

We are looking for a self-motivated person who is aiming to be an absolute success in the Programs Coordinator Gymnastics role; whilst being given the opportunity to undertake professional development and build on current knowledge and skills.

The ideal applicant will have experience in managing staff within a sporting environment, as well as evidence of coordinating a large sporting program preferably on a weekly basis. The ideal applicant will be expected to have experience in marketing and communication of sports programs, particularly via newsletters, website and social media avenues.

Strong experience in sports coaching and/or coordinating children’s activities is essential, along with a willingness to acquire further knowledge in the sport of gymnastics.

This position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998, and it is a requirement to conduct a Working with Children Checks on the preferred applicants. Prohibited Persons are not eligible to apply.
